At first, the unmanned aerial vehicles cost $6,000-$10,000 but the business didn’t bring the wanted profit.

Then, entrepreneurs decided to make the products cheaper but better by setting the price of $800. Refined products boosted the sales globally. One of the breakthrough products is Phantom which brought $130 million in 2013 and $500 million in 2015. What made the startup successful is its innovativeness. They developed products from scratch without borrowing someone else’s technologies.

The company became one of the beneficiary during the pandemic. This is an edtech project providing an online platform for distant learning. They earn on the commission of teachers’ wages who work on the website.

The startup was founded in 2015. Yuanfudao was meant to be a platform where students could choose a teacher for them. In the 2 years, such market giants as Alibaba, Baidu, and Tencent invested in the company. In 2016, the startup integrated group lessons as well which helped to increase the number of users.

By the end of 2019, the total of raised investments amounted to $540 million, but in 2020 Yuanfudao did even better. The startup attracted $2,2 billion investments from Tencent and DST Global.
